There's an old superstition that the Tower of London will fall down if the ravens ever leave.

Well, the residents of Summer Bay could be forgiven for having similar thoughts about Alf, who has been a fixture in the area for as long as anyone can remember.

Everyone's been worried about the Bay stalwart since the race riot sent him on a downward spiral, but Irene finally manages to get through to him. She urges him to have hope, and points out that Aden and Martha have managed to cope in the face of personal tragedies. Eventually, the old Alf starts to emerge, and he accepts an invitation to go fishing with Tony.

Elsewhere, Aden seeks advice from Liam and Tony about Nicole's declaration of love. Eventually, he admits to Nicole that, while he can't return the statement just yet, her words meant a lot to him.

Meanwhile, Liam becomes increasingly uncomfortable living with his ex-girlfriend and, after a pep talk from Martha, decides to move out.
