With a plum role in vampire hit True Blood, Ryan Kwanten is very hot right now.
He could probably have had his pick of blockbuster films, but the former Home and Away hunk reportedly begged for a role in an independent Australian movie by first-time director Leon Ford.
Ryan, who was Summer Bay's Vinnie Patterson until 2002, will star in Griff The Invisible, which may well be Australia's first superhero flick.
The film was shot over the past month in Sydney, and saw Ryan come back to his native Oz a brief break from filming his role as Jason Stackhouse in True Blood.
He told the Herald Sun: "This film was something that went straight to my core."
The movie is expected out next year.
